Hypnosis
What are your qualifications?
What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a process where your subconscious mind is more receptive to suggestions and more importantly will act on these suggestions. Your subconscious mind is not a specific area in your brain but a label for the processes that you are unaware of. Hypnosis that you receive from a hypnotherapists is not 'self-hypnosis' since all suggestions do not originate from you but externally via the hypnotist. The important bit is that you give permission to accept the suggestions. What does it feel like to be hypnotised? You will feel a great sense of relaxation and wellbeing. You will be fully aware of what is going on. Can everyone be hypnotised? Effectively yes. The key is that you have to want to 'let go' and that the hypnotist is skilled to help you feel comfortable about doing this. Is hypnosis safe? Perfectly safe. In fact you naturally enter hypnosis throughout the day. Remember hypnosis is a process where you accept suggestions that are given. How many times during the day do you accept suggestions from friends, family, colleagues and your boss to do something and you are very happy do it? This is a form of hypnosis. A hypnotist uses this phenomena to help you make positive changes. How can Hypnosis help? Hypnosis can help you change behaviour, habits or feelings and give you a great sense of well being. What can I expect when I am being hypnotised by yourself? I offer an initial free consultation with the aim of discussing what you would like to change and to see if you are comfortable with me and the hypnotic process. I will then go through an induction with your permission to create the hypnotic phenomena and then make suggestions that are tailored to you that will address your subconscious mind. On average this will take 45 minutes after the free consultation. I will then discuss with you if further appointments are required. In most cases only one appointment is required. How can I arrange an appointment with yourself? Please call me on or complete the contact form. Will I loose control when in hypnosis? It's not about whether you loose control, but how much you can 'let go' to allow your subconscious mind to support you in achieving your goals. Many people whilst in hypnosis are still aware of everything happening it's just that they are willing to 'let go' and follow my instructions.
What is the difference between stage hypnosis and hypnotherapy? There is no 'real' difference. Hypnotherapy is used for therapeutic reasons and stage hypnosis to demonstrate hypnotic phenomena. Hypnosis in any form is an art and when practiced by a real professional to educate people in the potential of the human mind is amazing. I do object to performances that embarrass, clearly does not show any respect to the people being hypnotised or is clumsily performed.
